C. as second-class matter. OFFICIAL PAPER OF NE BERN AND CRAVEN COUNTY. ! New Bern, N. C., Aug, .3. 1906. WHY NOT INVITE TO THIS PART? The telegraphic dispatches tell of a new steamboat line which Baltimore parties has just established, which is to operate between Baltimore and George town, S. C, and which expects to de velope a big Southern coastwise trade for Baltimore. It was not many months ago that there was some talk here of a steam boat line to run from here to Norfolk. The business of this city warrants ad ditional transportation facilities, and if the local interests are not able to oper ate a steamboat, there ought to be enough energy among the merchants and trade interests of New Bern to se cure other people to operate steam boats. Baltimore is a city which has done a great deal with New Bern, and while its transactions may have fallen off in the past years, there is only the need of better and cheaper transportation facilities in order for that city to secure a big trade from New Bern, This new company, which reports say is known as the Baltimore and Carolina bteamship Company, ought jo receive notice from the New Bern Chamber of Commerce, to look tinto this port and see what arrangementt it might make here, and no doubt arrangements might be made which would prove profitable on both sides. At any rate there is nothing to be se cured by doing nothing, and this steam ship company, if it amounts to anything ought to be looked after by the com mercial interests of this city. Public Is Aroused The public is aroused to a knowledge of the curative merits of that great medicinal tonic, Electric Bitters, for sick stomach, liver and kidneys. Mary H. Walters, of 546 St. Clair Ave.. Co lumbus, O., writes: "For several months I was given up to die. I had fever and ague, my nerves were wrecked; I could not sleep, and my stomach was so weak from useless doctors' drugs, that I could . not eat Soon after beginning to take Electric Bitters, I obtained relief, anil in a short time I was entirely cured.' A Warning to Mothers. ' ; Too much care cannot be used with small children during the hot weather of the summer months to guard against bowel troubles. As a rule it la only necessary to give the child : a dose of castor oil to correct any disorder of the bowels. ' Do "not use any substitute, but give ' the old-fashioned castor oil, and see that it is fresh, as rancid oil nauseates and has a tendency to gripe, If this does not check the bowels give Chamberlain's Colic, , Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy and then a dose of castor, oil,-' and the-disease, may be checked in IU Indpiency and ail dan ger avoided. - The- castor oil and this remedy should be procured at once and kept ready for instant use -as soon as the first Indication of any bowel trou ble appears. The United States Government report shows that soda crackers contain less water, are richer in the muscle and fat elements, and have a much higher per cent of the tissue building and heat forming properties than any article of food made from flour.
