A nth era Who Did a Great Deal el
Work In Mttla Time.
The rapidity, of the ancient writers Is
seen from the great number of works
prepared by them. Livy, for Instance,
wrote 142 boots. Among ue itomaus, i
Cicero often wrote three or four lm-j
portant works ln'a single year. Of Is tat
writers, Dr. Johnson, Scott and Byron
were all rapid writers. Byron, tt Is
related, wrote "The Corsair In ten
days, while Beott wrote a wort for
which he was paid 1,000 In ten flays.
Bab and His Friends," by Dr, John
Brown, was written, It Is said, at a
single alttlng. "
The story is told that Dean Sulpiey
once said to ueoer, . "suppose you
write a hymn for the service tomor
row utarnlngV and by the nest morn
ing the bynin known all around tne
world, ."From Greenland's Icy Moun

in that day's missionary : service.
Chalmers was eoce asked bow kmc tt

"mat . depends on . how. long yoo
want it If your sermon Is to be naif
an hour long, It will take you three
days; If tt Is to be three-quarters or aa
