The Woman 'I Club have canvassed
the town An4 placed lists with varieties
and most reasonable prices both at the
Journal offlc, and -Davis' Pharmacy.
With all this etpenditure of time and
lenergy less than sixty trees, exclusive
of the oaks, have been secured. The
rates hae been jven for lots of one
hundred; fewer will coeteoch individual
about 10 cents more per tree.
The order will be sent in by the 20th

has been most anxiously discussed, and

cines,' bitters, tonics, 'cordials, etc
which are Composed chiefly v of spirits
or mixtures thereof without the addi
tion of drugs or medicinal, ingredients
in sufficient quantities to - change ma
terially the character of, the akohehe
liquor, are subjects "of Special . Tax;
and on and after Dec.' 1st, 1905, per
sons selling such - Compounds will,, be
held liable to tax as liquor dealers.
The ruling that if such compounds
are composed of spirits in combination
with drugs, herbs, roots, etc.: and are
held out as remedies for diseases stat
ed in labels on the bottles they are to
be regarded s medicines until shown
to have been "sold for use as beverages
is now' revoked: and persons 'selling
compounds as medicines are held ac
countable for the actual character
thereof rather than what is stated in
labels and printed matter sent out by
the manufacturers.
