A serious -mutiny has occurred nt.Schousselberg, - a ortress known as "the Hussion bas- .tile,. which is lofcated on v an r island In lithe Neva river, .twenty miles east of St, Petersbusg. ? The troops , there are demanding the release of all political prisoners and threaten to carry the fortress by assault unless their de mands are complied with. This fortress for the past nineteen' years has been the torture house of Russia for political offenders. Many of the dungeons aire below high water level and the prison era are half drowned when the tide rises. There" are many instances where the prisoners have been' driven insan by the torture. North Carolina, Craven County ) It is Ordered by the Board of Com missioners of Craven county at the re quest of the Petitioners who signed the call for an election , in No's. 1 and 2 Townships to Vote Upon Subscription or o Subscription to the second mort gage bonds of the Raleigh & Pamlico Sound Railroad Company, which said election was called to be held insdl townships on the 12th day of December 190 with the consent of the railroad company it is ordered that this election be not held and the same is hereby call ed off and the election is withdrawn. At the Baptist State Convention today it approved and endorsed by acclamation, the liquor regulation laws knqwn as the Watts and Ward bills. v Next year's annual meeting at Greens boro will begin at 3 p. m. Wednesday December 7th. The work of the Womafi's Missionary Union was endorsed by a rising vote. Bishop Cheshire presented the auto-1 graph of Paul Parker, the First North Carolina Baptist written in 1725. The work of Shaw University, colored, at Raleigh was highly commended. The report on the Baptist Unwejsity for Women at Raleigh, which is maintained by the convention, was made, showing 350 students. Rev. C. J. Thompson of Durham, was made chairman of a committee on relief of aged ministers. Rev. Living ston Johnson was made chairman of a committee to prepare the program for next year's convention. It is directed that the orphanage at Thomasville be shown in future report annually, to the convention direct. It has never re' ported. An address was delivered by Rev. Dr Lumpi on General Education. The convention adjourned this evening to n: n t nc .t December at Greensboro. At the session of the Baptist State Woman's Missionary Union it was de cided ti separate from the State Con vention by holding tho annual meeting at a different place, and date i rneot next year at Durham, the second week in April. It was decided to raise next year $21,000 for Home, State and Foreign Missions. r State Auditor Dixon says the receipts of tho public f unds aggregate' $2,786,- 408. Disbursements amounting to (2,503,694, and a balance of $282,714. The Supreme Court has finished hear ing arguments this term and will ad- jqum Wednesday or Thursday.
