Two fires happened Sunday and another on Monday, when the alarm failed to respond and the department was notified by telephone. The Christmas travel was something enormous. Never before has there been such a rush on travel and in many caess transportation companies have found it difficult to get accommodations for the traveling public. The per sonals in the last three numbers of the Journal show that there was considera ble traveling troin: on here. We are infor.n :J by thj tiokel aont of the A. & N. C. road, Mr. Williams, that the receipts at the New Bern ticket office during Christmas week were about $800. There will be a garne of football on New Years Day, on the blades Park ground, between the college boys who are now In the city assisted by local player.
