The Finkertons, the Police, and the Crooks by O'Connor Douglas, is an article from material furnished the author by a reformed confidence man who has operated in this country and Europe for over thirty years and who writes of startling conditions little known to the general public. Besides other articles and stories we must mention two crackajack stories : The Watcher In the Pit by Maxumxian Foster, the most absorbing story of vengeance carried across two continents and an ocean. The glacier on Mount Sarroiento. In South America, whlcb descended to the7 sea when Darwin found It In 1830. is now separated from the -shore by a vig orous growth of timber. The Jacob shavn glacier In Greenland bus re treated four miles since ,1850. and the east glacier In Spitsbergen Is more than a mile away from Its old term I mil moraine. In Scandinavia tbe snow line Is farther up tbe mountains, and the gla clers hnve withdrawn 3.000 feet from the lowlands In a century. The Arapahoe glacier In the Rocky mountains, with characteristic Ameri can enterprise, has been melting at a rapid rate for several years. In the eastern Alps and one or two other small districts the glaciers are growing. Doan's Kidney Pills have stood this test and stood it well. What better proof of the merits of this remedy could you demand, than the statement of a New ern resident who has been cured and has stayed cured? Read the following: ' C. P. Bartling, 136 Middle St., New Bern, N. C, says: "I can recommend Doan's Kidney Pills just aa highly to day aa 1 did several years ago, after they cured me of a severe caae bf kidney trouble. 1 suffered considerably from backache and pains through my loinw, often being in such a condition that I could not attend to my work.
