New York June 10-The cotton market advanced again today on heavy abort covering, by those who bad sold 0$ the band sank with the Battleship Maine many yean ago, sat dawn on a bench in the' Capitol Square Welneaday night and deliberately swallowed sixteen grains of morphine Her unconscious form was found by a pedestrian and she was taken toner boarding bouse, No. 815 Eist Franklin street, where she was revived and where on Thursday she talked in an in coherent manner of the attempted sui cide. She will recover. ' ' Her attempted suicide in the Square was the second one for the day. In an office in Main street she had tried to end her life with a revolver- The man for whom she has such a mad infatuat ion dashed the pistol from her hand as she was in the act of sending a bullet crashing into her brain. .V Silently the woman is said to have taken the rebuke from the person she loved and to have gone out into the street quietly and calmly. She left her boarding house in the evening and wan dered to the Capitol Spuare. Several people saw her sitting on one of the benches but none thought she contem plated suicide. When no one was lock ing she swallowed the morephine and laid down to die. But for the fact that was found and medical assistance rend ered at once she would have likely ac complished her promise; As soon however, the! market baited, and showed a ten dency to react. Spot sales were in better volume at higher quotations. Weather report are uniformly favorable. - There is still a considerable abort in terest outstanding, which if eliminated on any further advance, win ron tne market of its Chief element of strength and be followed hy a sharp reaction.
