KeUey - married several days sgo, Yesterday he end his bride were invi ted for an automobile ride by friends near -Koxoury Crossing, KeUey was suddenly seised by his companions, a pair of handcuffs were slipped upon his wrist', his fa.e blackenad with axl grease a set xtl burglar's implements shoved Into his pockets and a villainous looking blackjack thrust into an out: side pocket, where it could be plainly seen. The garage man hurried for a telephone, Kelsey fled. - Kelsey was taken for a desperado. A bank is not in business to "go broke," because the bankers would then FIRST lose all of their money. Make OUR Bank YOUR Bank. We pay liberal interest consistent with safety 4 per cent. THE PEOPLES BANK Ificiorial Review Patterns I A Special Savings Account Is recommended by the New Bern Banking and Trust Company as a means by which tbe money for some special object may be laid aside. This is doubt less a gooa plan, if you have one sav imra account, vou can onen another for some special object By this carefnfj means the money for the purchase of a home or the education of children may ha gradually accumulated. The Journal is indebted to the cour tesy of Mr. O. H. Perry for a basket of his famous Delicious apples. For a good many years it has been doubted whether fruit could be successfully grown in Eastern North Carolina, and the ragged diseased appearance of the trees justified the duubt Experiments in in fruit growing were nearly always discouraging, and sometimes disastrous. Tbe climate has not changed, neither has tbe nature of the soil, but now are orchards ef fine, healthy, full bearing trees to be seen all around. Sometimes' they are very small, but now arid then aa extensive one like Mr. Perry's .is noticed. The appearance of the trees and- excellent quality of the product, demonstrates th fact that thia section is especially adapted to fruit growing, th only jthing- required is intelligence in planting and caring for th trees, Mr. Perry and a few others , who: have" succeeded, made fruit erowina a studv. went at K scientifically and their orch ards are ohjoct lessons of great value for this section. . !
