two and a half hours on the revenue
bill and passed 62 sections, making some
notable amendments. Considerable time
was spent on section 35, taxing whole
aale dealers in borses $50 and an amend
ment adopted that no dealer should be
required to take out bo th' retail and
Wholesale license. Sec. 35, and f 1 as to
livery stable menjwere then left open
for future consideration, .-. Sec. 37 was
amended so as to increase the tax on
automobile dealers from $25 to $50, an
an amendment by Ewart to inrreasa it

was amended so as to include all fort-

Goldsboro, Feb. 23 Shortly .before S
'clock this afternoon Roscoe Riven-
bark, son of a prominent business man
in this city, shot' and instantly killed
Biancoe Jones, a womanof ill repute at
her home in this city. : ; ,
Yesterday morning Rivenbark visited
the woman's home 'and spent several
hours there, Leaving shortly a after
noon he w?nt to lunch after which he
returned. Only A . few minutes had
elapsed after heJiad entered the house
before other inmates heard five reports
of a revolver and immediately after
ward Rivenbark jruahed from the house.
An investigation was made and It was
found that the woman bad ' been: shot
five times in tha breast. w 1
The police were notified of the Jihoot-
ting and less than half an hour later
they had the murderer .behind bars. He
will be given a preliminary . bearing to
morrow morning in the meantime be
