' -A few months ago the trustees decid ed to build a dormitory to cost $25,000 as soon as the funds could be secured. Daring the' past rthree years many Students have been turned away for the lack of room and a new building was necessary before the patronage could ba inciefted. W. M. Curtis, secretary and treasu w of the college, has ben engaged in the campaign to raise the necessary $25,000. He has secured up to this time $6,000 and now. the gift of Mr. -Fi; zgerald leaves only $9,000 to be raised it order to secure the proposed new dormitory. The Methodists of the state sorely will not be slow in raising this amount so as to secure the much needed build ing. Mr- Fitzgerald is a farmer. He is well known in Davidson county and is one of it best citizens. Ha is a loyal member of the Methodist Church and has been a philanthropist in a quet'ay for many years. Through his gene'ros ity chiefly a splendid church was built near bis heme, and many times the be nevolences and institutions" of his Church have received his gifts. He has long bten a friend of Greensboro . Fe male College and educated some of his niecns there. A few years ago, when an i.ffort was made to secure an endow ment of $100,000, Mr. Fitzgerald con tributed $1,000.
