BEAUTIFUL CHURCH WEDDING .v - Of interest to North Carolina as well as New Bern was the wedding of Miss Henriette Bryai Hancock, youngest daughter of Mr. Charles Hancock, ar.d Claw's Lee Marshall, -Bon of Mr. and MrsBoman'Marshall of Leesville, Louis iana, which was so'emnized in Centen ary Methodist church, yeiterdiy morn ing,' at eight thirty o'clock. Rev. J. B. Hurley, pastor of the church, perform ed the ceremony. The decorations of the church w ere entirely of white and green, the chan cel was a maes of palmt and ferns with love'y baskets of narcissi and lighted by hundreds of candles. The entrance of the bridal party was maee to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march, rendered by Mrs, Jane Meadows. The. bride entered with her father. Mr. Charles Hancock, she wore a hand some going away gown of brown chiffon broadcloth, trimmed with Venetian lace (and a touch of hunters green, with hat, and gloves to match, her only ornament was the groom'sgilt, a diamond brooch. She carried a cornucopia boquet of Btide's roses. Mrs, David Oongdon, sister of the bride, aa dame of honor wore a lovely pale blue embroidered robe, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of Killar ney roses. The groOm with hia best man, Mr. William Wintle, entered the church from the side door and met the bride at the altar. "Ob, Pomise Me" was softly and sweetly played during th-3 ceremony and Mendelshon'a march wai played as the party left the church The ushers were; Mr. Edward Han cock, brother of the bride, Mr. Ralph Hunter Smith, Mr. Ruber t Atkinson, of Norfolk, and Dr. Joseph Patterson? Mr. and Mrj. Marshall left immedi ately after the ceremony for a trip to New Orleans and Hot Springs after which they will make their home in Leesville. Louisiana. So bad are the roads leading into the city Postmaster Basnlght would not allow the rural free delivery men to venture out and will not do so until travelling by conveyance is practicable. Practically the same conditons pre vails all over this section. In Pamlico county the roads are in ' such cohdition that travel is simply impossible and it ia the same in other sections of Craven. Much of the snow arid ice was melt ed during yesterday and if the sun con tinues, to shed i'a rays in this section again today, much more of it will dis appear and travelling will be easier and safer.
