Davis House Arrivals. Special Correspondence. Beaufort. Jan 29. Mr John A. Roy al, who has been here for several win ters, came this year with his yacht "Pilgrim, " specially built for fishing off this coast. While a Ash boat "in name, the " Pilgrim " is splendidly built and handsomely finished. Mr, Royal's first test in fishing has been to anchor his yacht some 20 miles off Cape Lookout point, and using cut mullet for bait, finned for black fish (tautog.) Ac a result some 400 of theie fish were captured by this crew by hand line fishing; This was done in 13 fathoms, where a hard, shelly reef was found, the favorite feeding ground of this fish. The Merrit & Chnp-nan Wrecking Co's barge 'Haggwty,' arrived in Nor folk January 27th with 221 bales of cot ton taken from the wreck d British steamship "Thistleroy," which lies ashore on the N. C. Lookout Shoals. The large Norfolk is also on the way up the coast with 2,175 more bales from this steamer. Heavy snow was reported here as having fallen Sunday night off the Vir ginia and North Carolina coasts.
