Daniels in command and with a crewof twenty-five men on board frr-m the Naval Keterves, came into port early yesterday morning for the pu'p?e of coaling' up. During the past Tew days the Elfrieda has b-en cruising around the waters of Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds for the purpose cf enforcing the laws in regard to the fi-hing with nets. Atone or two points nets were Uken up by the crew of the Elfrieda and confiscated. At other points the fishermen hive been given uniil a certain time to take up the nets which thy have djwn. They haie promised to do this and avoid further trouble, Tne boat will return this afternoon to the scene of the violations of the law and remain until matters are in some way settled. New York, March 30th. -A pension plan for the b?netit of the Western Union Telegraph Company's 30, 000 em ploye waBannunced today President Theo. N. Vail, President Vai1 said: "A pension committee hss been compiling statistics and analyzing exittt'nif pen sion plans for many monlhs. Wl ile tho p'an which we are inaugurating does not go as far as we would like to have it, still it is a beginning and we believe will materially assist in carinp; for those employees qualified through length of service, who, because of ir capacity or disabi'uy are compelled to discontinue active work." "The solution of the; problem has not been n easy one, "In view of ihe large number of employes, iheir widely diversified occupations and Ihe large territory over which the pya tern extends, together with the heavy expense of the company incident to the inauguration of the pension.
