The two blind men couJdn't see but they made mighty good ute of their ears and their tongues. They got back the things they tiad lost by making the most use of the things they had left, You do the eame and you'll be ttated. "Je.-us stood still," It was as if those two beggars on the road critd "halt !' and He came to attention. What was it they f aid that thus arrested the prog ress of the Son of God, It waB the word "Mercy." If you will find me a man blind to the things of God I will find you a begg.r. The auditorium of Centenary church was well filled last evening to greet Rev. Herbert Bojth; the English evan geli t and s ja of Gen. Wm. Booth, of ting land, and he said it was a compli mentatd thjwtd a great interest for such a Urge audience . to gather on a Monday night, which hd considered was the hardest night in the week to draw ajsrowd. Mr. Booth took fur hi sermon the story found in the 20th chapterof Matthew, the story of two blind men. Mr. Booth paid: "When I was walking one day on the si.oieB i f that beauiilul country ot lsw ;iami, I picked up a I'itsce of ropr, ui.il 1 found a red thiead runnirg right through it, ana one thing why I believe the Bible to be the in spired woid of God, is because every where you open it, jou fl.idtha crinism strand o' 'he gojpel. TO LOCATE HT Norfolk-Southern Railroad Will Locate General Repair Shops At South Norfolk. ; Norfolk, April 8th.-The Norfolki Southern Railroad Company I as pur; chas d through Z E, Keister and Oomi pary, their agrntg. about se.entyfivj acres of valuable land beyond Soutl Norfolk for the purpose of loca ing its general shops here for the ent re road; The property begins at the Virginia ij Railway and extends in a southerly di; rection along the Norfolk Southern Rai't road through West Munden, to a poinj. -bout a quarter of a mile this side of Providance Church. The amount ini volvtd in the purchise of this property is ubout $40,000. It u rumored upon good Authority that the company will spend about a half mil.ion dollars in this vicinity in the near future, about $300,000 of this sum being spent on ths shops and yards upon the property above mentioned and the remaineder in thoroughly equipping its water front property in Berkley ward. It is highly probable that the Com p.my will begin to build its new shops within the mxt sixty days. It was the intention of the Norfolk- Southern to locate these shops at Ra leigh, inasmuch as that City is rearer the center of the system, but throueh the activity and influence of Messrs. 7, E. Keister and Com puny, one of Berk ley's leading real estate dealers to wh rh great endit in due, these plans werfe changed and it was decided that if enough desirable property could be sec ured, the company would locate here insteed Messrs. Keister and Company have been tu-ily at work on this pre position for the past six months. The improvements made necessary by the ships will greatly enhance the value of real estate in that vicinity and in vestors have already begun to take ad vantage of their opportunities in buying property, it being far enough out of the city to be bought up in acreage which will yield big returns to investors by cutting the same up into' building lots. Deeds for s me of the above men tioned property are constantly going to record daily in the name of Z. E. K ii te, holding agent, and in a few cases condemns ion proc edings may be necessary in order to obtain the amount of property needed by the company as some of the holders are asking ex orbitant prices or refusing to sell.
