The members of the valorization committee have agreed and conap'red among themselves, the government charges, to withhold from the market large quantities of coffee under eon trol for the purpose of raising the price to an unnatural and unreasonable extent. The young ladies screamed for aaaistanoe bat owing to the fact that the thunder ing hoof beat of the frightened animal drowned the full import of their cries no one came to their aid. . Jiist after crossing South Front street Miss Davis, who is the daughter of Capt, W, H. Davis.No. 124 Broad street rose and prepaied lo jump from the vehicle. Although highly excited her companions tried to restrain her bul without avail. She leapad from the swaying vehicle but miscalculated the distance and Struck the pavement with frightful force. The other young ladies remained in the vehicle until the frightened animal urned into a telephone pole a few feet further on. A number of persons rush ed to their assistance and succeeded in removing them from the vehicle before either was injured. Miss Davis was placed in an automo bile and rushed to a pbysialan'a office where an elimination of her injuries waa made, It was found that the skul Was fractured at the base of her braio and that she was perhaps injured inter nal'y. Later ahe waa taken to Stew art's santtorium where all possible aid was rendered her, but she died shortly after 9 o'clock. Miss Davis had a host of friends in the city and the news of the accident east a pall Of gloom over the entire city. But for the fact that the unfor tunate victim attemp'ed to jump from the Vdhide there is not the least doubt ut that she would have escaped unhurt aa did the other young ladies. Commencement Program.
