The onlyjforest of white pines that we have heard of in this state east of the Blue Bidge, is in this county on tho southern bank Of Eocky river, about half a mile Canon Curteis, of the English church, above its junction with Deep river, on "Christian Agnosticism," in which These trees, some of them two feet at once to mount fish for our county exhibit. It is to be regretted that so much time has been lost in beginning this important work, as some of our fish have already past their prime, and it will soon be too late for shad, herring and others. The May number of the "Popular Science Monthly" contains an article by giving two pieces in the shape of a tri angle. Now, measure exactly five inches from the end of each strip and cut in two pieces. Take these slips and put them into the shape of an exact square and it will appear to be just eight inches each way, or sixty-four square inches, a loss of one square inch of superficial measurement, with i o diminution of surface. The question is, what becomes of that inch?. HOW FARMERS LOSE MONEY. By not taking one or more good papers. Keeping no account of farm opera tions, paving no attention to the maxim that a "stitch in time saves nine" in re gard to sowing grain and planting seed at the proper time. Leaving reapers, plows, cultivators etc., unsheltered from the rain and the heat of the sun. Permitting broken implements to be scattered over the farm until they are irreparable. By repairing broken im plement in time many dollars may be saved a proof of the assertion that time is money. Attending auction sales and purchas ing all kinds of trumpery because, in the words of tho vendor, the articles are very cheap. Allowing fences to remain unrepaired until 6trange cattle are vfound grazing in tue meadow, grain helds, or brows ing on the fruit trees. Disbelieving the principle of rotation of crops before making a single experi ment. naming fruit trees without giving them half the attention required to ma&e tnem profitable. ihe farm run on the foregoing sug gestions will soon "blossom like the rose." while the owner will live easy and contented and "die a clever fellow." in diameter, grow on a high hill that rises almost perpendicularly from the river, and extend nearly bait a mile up the river.
