After working some time in the employ, of Mr. Lee he consorted with a disreputable woman in the neigh borhood by the name of Betsey Branch which so aroused the anger of Lis wife that she- instituted proceedings "against Petteway to compel him to contribute to her support. This so far from reform ing him only made the matter worse, and,, he. and .Betsy made ,a trip to this city, obtained license and were united in the bonds of wedlock by Justiee Brin- son.-; After fhia Petteway left , the em ploy of , Mr Lee and became a tenant with others on the Garbaooa farm a few miles ' below his former ' place of 1 employment.'.
