Several teachers called at the office of our county Superintendent yesterday to bo examined for teacher's certificates, and some of them we are pleased to note were of the young ladies from the higher grades in our graded school. Several good and successful teachers have been sent out from the Graded School which fact speaks volumes for the school. The system of teaching peculiarly adapted to public schools as one is taught how to manage and teach a large number of children. it is a good sign to see the young ladies of the school preparing them selves to teach. Perhaps the day will yet come when North Carolina will see tbe necessity of appropriating money for ber publio schools aa well as law it is hoped at least that those who are call ed upon to legislate on the matter will be convinced after awhile that amend ing the school law is not what is needed, but incney, money, money and when this time comes good teachers will be in demand, and it has been proven that ladies are the best teachers for publio schools. Remunerative employment is what our southern girls need, and there is nothing for which they are more pe culiarly fitted than teaching. Receipts from Sales of Athletic Club Lumber. Nov. 3, 1884.
