Among the- valuable results ofthe recent election baa been the increase in the Prohibition vote aod the re. duction in the majorities of the parties heretofore controlling the several States. Mr, Hill was chosen Governor of New York by about 10,000 plurality. ;' This State, which used to have 60,000 Republican ma jority, will hereafter be classed as doubtful. In all the States the parties are getting to be more evenly ! balanced. In .New York City, for instance, where the Demo crats had two votes to the Republi cans' one, changes have occurred which are largely increasing the one vote and .diminishing the other. This state of things puts the parties on their good behavior, and will permit in time the Prohibitionists to hold the balance of power and dictate - terms to the rival party organizations, and eventually wipe one ot the parties out of existence. Demoresf$ Monthly. When old Mrs. Gravedown read about the cremating of a score of human bodies, she exclaimed: "Only to think of such going on! It i,s a Inirnrnft Khftmni ' A CARD. .
