The committee which were appointed at the last moeting of the trustees of tbe academy., viz.: Geo. Allen, Joe. Scbwrin, E. H. Meadows, L. H. Cut ler, T. A. Green, A. Miller, Philemon Holland and W. U. Oliver, held a meet ing on yesterday. They - resolved to make an f rlort to obtain tin money by subscriptions, t be payfcMeMn row in stalments, viz., September, November, January and March. In Order to con tinue the school in all the gradeey and to keep up the past efficiency, there will be required at least twenty-five hun dred dollars. Each member of tbe committee are prepared to receive sub scriptions, and we trust that our citi zens will respond with promptness and liberality. The question is between having a pay school or a free school. A free public school is certainly a great blessina: to any eohimunity, and is well worth the cost. New Berne baa splendid school property, and we most reeolve to keep it filled with child rep. The JouunaL will take pleasure in giving all the -aid possible' in furthering the object, and will publish the results if desired. Political Plmtm.''.v ? The judicial convention of the 6th dis trict will be held at Goldsboro tomor row. From present Indications, Judge Boy kin and Solicitor Allest wll kw nominated almost without opposition.
