Something ought to bo done to relievo tho hoavy vrorkr which presses on the three Supreme Court Judges, but in stead of incarring tho expense and trouble of amending tho Stato Constitu tion to increase tho number of Juil pee. would it not be bettor for tho Legisla ture to amend the law so as not to allow so many frivolous appeals to the Suprome Court, which- appeals am often made morcly for the purpose or gaining time and putting off the payment of honest debts. It is. a shame ana disgrace to equity and justice and fr.irnrss, to allow appeals to tho Supremo- Court in civil cases, when it is notorious mat sucn appeals are made fo- the purpose of postponing the day of settlerucr.t. The fact is, dishonest intentions are at the bottom of, many appeals from Superior Com it judgments, and Instead of increasing the number of 8opTomo Court Judges, let the number of appeals bo decreased by making it more expen sive to appeal than it inow is.
