Services at the P. B. church in town last Sunday. The past two days hare been oof d, wet and disagreeable. The Diaoiplee church ia about com pleted and will be dedicated next bun day, we learn. t B. U. Harper, formerly of Hooker tun has moved to our place and ia doing Dusmese tn one or Him Wooten s hrick stores. We welcome Mr. Harper to our town. The buggy shop of Messrs. Bizxell & Taylor is nearing completion, and ia a few day a the sound of axe, hammer or some tool of iron, will be heard in its walls. For two weeks our town has not been overran with visitors during the work days. We suppose tbe farmers are at their farm work during this favorable weather. We hear that two men. wlauee con duct was very suspicious, visited our place last Saturday. The recent burs lariee in Kineton and Goldeboro, put our peopie on tneir guard, tne Mayor in creased the police force, and all is well up to this writing. A number of our citizen are attend ing court in Kington Una week. We learn that not one case has been sent to this court from this township. Hereto fore it has been aaid that asoet of the cases Mere from here, this time, jurors take the place of cases. Mr. Swain preached at Qickor v Greve last Sunday. The weather was unfavor able but a good congregation attended. The congregation and interest has been incraaung at this church fee the last tw years. One of the improveniesS to be noted is the purchase of an organ for the use of thehurch". The men. bets of tniu church, and the people ' tbe community, are liberal, and wbeii hey attempt a thing they do U. It is a pleasure to note the proaoeruy of our schools. Previously there haa been a dtci ean6 in the spring terms, but the spring term of the present eesioo , in all the schools here, shows an in- j crease. The popularity of the eehoola, and the advantages of our little town, are spreading farther each year, and citizens are being drawn to the place until there is not a vacant house in town. Surely the eehoola give life to the place and business to our merchants. .and they should have the encourage ment ol eyery citizen. A nilnd and Dear VM.
