A to the Richmond Dispatch says: sp cial "Your correspondent was told today of a very peculiar occurence at a town on the Raleigh & Qaston railway very near this city. A young lady of that place not long ago inserted an adver tisement in a newspaper 'for a hus band.' or, rather, looking to matrimony. It was answered by a man up North. The two were engaged by letter. The young lady perhaps thought it a good joke up to this point, but there was a rapid change from jest to earnest when a letter came from the man saying that on a certain day he would be at the girl's home to claim her as his bride. The news actually made the girl sick, and she took to her bed. On tbe day mentioned the man appeared at the town, and was a very unprepossessing fellow. Ho made some inquiries about the girl and her family, and found she was pretty and well to do. He went to the house but could not sea tbe girl. He demanded admission and claimed her as his affianced, but was not allowed to enter the house. Chapter 3 in this story, which ia all fact, is that the lover has sued tbe maiden for breach of promise and damages. Tbe lady has quits a number of acquaintances in all this section."
