Smith and R. P. Pell. Rev. Mr. Sprunt, chairman of the oommittee on home mission, submit ted a report with recommendations. wbicb wss considered serieaftm, amend ed and adopted. Mr. Sprunt made an aarnest appeal for the resolution in favor of home missions, and made some good practical soggeetioae in regard to raising the amount called for. Presbytery called to order at 3.30 o'olock by the moderator. Rev- Dr. Atkinson submitted a report on "Observance of the Sabbath " which wa lecelved and adopted. Elder Carr submitted a report in re gard to settling with tha Evangelists which was reoeived and adopted. Rev. Mr. Darnell submitted a report in regard to how tba Treasurer shall pay oat money. After considerable dis onasioa a motion of Rev. Mr. Van as a abstltute was adopted. Mr. Miller, without endorsing in any particular the letter of lie v. Mr. Tidball, asked the Presbytery to be charitable in its judgment. The srrivals here of emigrants on their way to the United States are at present enormous. The railway are running special trains to accommodate this class of travel. The number of emigranta now awaiting ateamers to carry them to their destina tions is already greater than can be houaed in the hotels and lodging houses, and many ara oamping ia the streets.
