Morehead City Booming
We are informed by parlies just
from Morehead City that there are
about twelve hundred people at the
Atlantic Hotel. The only thing needed
to make Morehead City one of the great
est summer resorts in the country is
proper consideration on the part of the
associated railways. The light that is
made against the A. & N. ('. Railroad.
it being an independent line, by these
associated corporations in unknown to
the public The officers of the A. N.
C. Railroad may claim that they have
all the accommodations and courtesies
that can be expected from these lines,
but their difficulties and troubUs sel
dom come to the surface. There has
long been a disposition to choke this
little independent line into submission
and compel it to become a part of one
of the great lines now operating in this
State. But the natural advantages of
Morehead City are appreciated, not
withstanding such opposition.

At Morehead City.
The work of the Teachers' Assembly
at Morehead is now nnder good head
way, and much good is being ajcom
plished which is daily interspersed with
the many pleasures obtained at most
any other seaside resort. This meeting
of teachers between eight and nine
hundred is one of the largest the
country has ever known, and only in
its third year of organization.
The regular exercises are to be taken
np daily at 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. In the
afternoons some special address by some
of the most eminent speakers in the
State, which Is followed by essays,
recitations and ten-minute talks, ter
minating about 10 p. m. Immediately
then the dancers form for the German,
a most excellent orchestra from Colum
bia, 8. C, furnishing the music.
There are stopping at the Atlantic
Hotel, including teachers, : friends to
education, and guests, near twelve hun
dred people. Of coarse so many can
not be eomfortably .located and waited
upon, bat the proprietors are making
aa earnest effort to givo satisfaction. ,

Superior Court, Spring Term, 1 s7. (
Craven county , N. C. . I
To His Honor Judge W. M. Shipp -We,
the Grand Jurors for this term ol
the Superior court of Craven county , N
C, respectfully submit to your honor
the following report.
We find the courthouse to be in a very
good condition; well kept; an ornament
to the county. We have examined the
county jail and find it well policed and
in a cleanly condition : prisoners well
cared for. We have also examined the
county poor house and find the houses
in fair condition; the furniture rather
scant, and in one instance, a little un
clean. We would recommend, from
complaint made by some that were very
sick, that a more proper food be given
them than the course food ordinarily
provided; otherwise, everything else
was in as good condition as could be
reasonably expected.
