Winalow of Ihe I N Navy who n low superintending the coast survey and tl.o survey of the oyster grounds ef North Carolina says that a light house is badly needed at Oull Shoal in Pamlico sound. There are two dangerous shoal al this point and ihere is no light nearer than fifty miles His schooner the Scoresby struck on one of these shoals a short time since ami a necessity for a light al that point was very forcibly impressed Ukid him. Had he not been so fortunate as to have a well equipped crew, hp would have sus tained serious losses For some reason or other the Department is not as con siderate of the needs of Pamlico anj Albemarle sounds as it should be. Most of the coastwise traffic of this section is done through these waters and the government ought to provide lights, beacons snd buoys at every point w here they are needed in order for the safety of passengers and the marine service. We hope this matter will be put in definite shape and referred to Congress men Licalham nd Simmons, and that they may be able to induce tbe Depart ment to do what is necessary for the safe navigation of these sounds.
