The board of trustees of the New Berne Academy are requested to meet at tbe office of the President this after noon at four o'clock to take into con sideration tbe proposition of the Fair Committees to use the Academy build in. Mr. R. B. Lehman delivered a lecture on '."(The Origin of Language." before the Huh School yesterday. It was an ble discourse on the origin and growth of the different languages and their ' relation! to each other. It was enjoyed and much appreciated by the school. - Prepare tat the Fair. The ladies of the committee on fancy ' work for tbe Fair, invite all who can to prepare work for this department. A petition was being circulated yes terday asking the buard of trustees of the Academy for tbe use of tbe graded school building to bold the Fair. It 16 feared there will not be room in the court bouse as the interest being mani fested gives promise of a big thing. The school building is an excellent place. Tbe liniii.ee committee represented by Messrs Willis and Kxizenstein reported pood success in collecting funds for the 1 air. On motion, C Ksi.enstein was elect ed Treasurer of the Fair Association. At tho suggestion of Commissioner Patrick, it was moved to appoint a Mn- reau of Information, to consist of three members. The motion was carried an I the chair subsequently appointed Messrs. Edward Hull, J. K. Willis and W. 11. Oliver. It w ill bu lho duly of thh "bureau to look after visitors and provide for their care and comfort in the way of board, lodging, eto. The subject of a suitable place for tin- Fair was canvassed, and it was tby unanimous opinion that the graded school grounds and building should be obtained if possible. The oommitlee of arrangements de sirfrd detloite information respecting their powers and duties, which brought on considerable discussion and resulted in illuminating tbe subject. Commissioner Patrick made several valuatle suggestions in regard to adver tising. which tbe President was re quested to intimate to the committee on invitation and reception, none of them being present. The committee on fancy work and fine art. represented by Misses Allen and Metts, asked information in regard to their duties, and were instructed to "seek from all available sources to make the best exhibit possible. On motion this committee was -appointed to have charge of the exhibition of antique relics. The committee on game, represented by Messrs. Patterson and Duffy, asked information. They were instructed to show our visitors "a thing or two" about game, with the probable oppor tunity of receiving handsome remune ration by the sale of tbe same. The committee on advertising met with Mr. Patrick after tbe adjournment and had a general discussion upon various plans for getting the Fair before tbe public. Tbe committee on premiums met later and oanvasjied tbe subjct, a full report of which will be made further on. Now let everybody get rvaJy for a good and enjoyable time.
