Williams, member of the board f city council, reported to the board the damage done by the water running from tlie gutters of the court house lo the sidewalk on Craven street and asked that it be remedied. The matter was on motion referred lo the chairman of the board. The poll tax charged to Moses P.Cobb, No. 8 township, was remitted on account of error, he bemg not a oitixen of the State. The committee appointed to examine the books and accounts of the oounty treasurer was instructed to report to an adjourned meeting of the board on Tuesday, March 15tb, 1888, all monies rtoived, and which ought to have been received, by said treasurer from all ITU roes, and that said treasurer be in structed, at a time named by said oom mittee, to exhibit all books and papers before said committee neoeesary to a fall compliance with this order, and that a copy of this resolution be served on the treasurer. The order of the chairman of the board to the county treasurer dated Feb. 24th 1888 instructing him to turn over to the commissioner of the sinking fund three hundred and seventy-three dollars and ten oents, being balance of interest funda remaining in his hands from the tax of 1881, was approved. The plans and specifications for build ing a bridge across Neuse river within one mile of the court house were re ferred to the Magistrate .of the oounty at their annual meeting in Jane next for their action. Hannah Potter was placed upon the pauper list with a monthly allowanoe of $1 SO until further ordered by the board. A voucher for $3.68 was ordered is sued to Mrs. S. A. Taylor being the amount of county tax .wrongfully paid by bar for back taxet due by Mrs. A. 8. Tsylor for ths year tS7S.andr$Jf and tha receipt giren by tha chairman of the board to Mrs. 8 A. Carpets, etc., all combine to set it off with most handsome effect. The Supreme Court room is especially elegant and tastefully arranged. As a number of Burnside's old soldiers are te give us a visit how would it do to get up a few ratios of this recent visit? Recently while in New Berne I found on the north aide of the river grape shot. Such things would not only be of interest to the "old fellows" wbo gave our people a visit "when we did net want them" but of much interest to ua who ware too voting to remember much of the daye of "00 to U5.
