Every cilizsn of the second district without regard to party, roe, color or previous condition, ought to appreciate the services of so fimhlul a representative. Lieut. Wintlow's Address. The Elizibeih City Economist is pub lishing copious extracts from the admi rable address of Lieut. Winslow, deliv ered before the Fair Association in this city. The Association ought to publish this address in pamphlet form. We printed quite a number of extra oopies of our Weekly containing it, but they have exhausted and we have a demand for fifty copies more. The development of the ojsler industry is of more im portance to New Heme than any other town in North Carolina. We have a canning establishment here which should be kept constantly going through the winter an I spring. We must use every msans to spread information in regard to this industry, and we know of nothing better than this address. The Economist ssys, We desire to give all the publicity to the exoellent address of Lieut. Winslow of tha Oyster Survey delivered at the Iste Uytter end Uame Fair at Hw Berne. It ia an excellent address, abounding in good sense, practical sug gestion and full of facta and statistics aboot oyster culture in North Carolina. Lieut. Winslow is no ordinary man, and oysters he has made a study most of his lire and is master of the subieot. He is doing a valuable wark for Eastern Caroline and is developing a new Indus try that is destined to bring wealth to oar people. We hope our own people will read his address and not wait for outsiders to come among us to develop a business for us that we sbonld ex amine and dsvelope ourselves. We hare so often spoken of this subject snd Illustrated the profits of the basinets hy reliable figures that we will not here undertake to restate them. We only say that ws believe no business now followed by our people will compare in profit with oyster culture. Snggcstlon . Editor Jocrkal: While onr Me morial Association is looking around to find a proper subject to engage the attention of speaker and perple next Msy, I would suggest the name of Caps. Thos. J.
