Dockery1s letter of acceptance has a4 been .pub lished: "They say" that the reason Colonel Dockery's letter of acceptance does not appear is cauted by Col. Loga Harris's absent-mindedness. He is chairman of the committee appointed to Officially notify Col. Dockery ef his nomination. Recently he wrote the Kong-delay letter and billed a shipment of potato slips to another party on the same day. Re sult: Col. Dockery got the bill; the other got the letter: and it has taken some time to get matters straight. The letter will probably be published soon. Bingham School. We note that the Superintendent has aban doned attending the State Fair even, as bsing more hurtful than helpful. Black, who was announced to preach, being absent on account of the iliaee of Mrs. Black. Rev. J. A. Cnaniaggim, P E. of the Grveatboro district preached the ser mon II put in sums sledge hammer blow against hypocritieai maalfeata Uon of interest ia the poor. Th pohu cians who always take such interest in the poor man, especially election year, war given a pasting notice. After the ermoet th sacrament of the Lord Sup per was administered to a larg nam ber In the afternoon at the usual hour for Sunday school a large congregation assembled aad after a number of by mas were rendered in a cpirited manner, lead by the Sunday school choir, and prayer by Rev. Mr. Lumley, Mis Sadie Whitford cam forward and read an address of welcome to the Bright Jew el. The address was well prepared sod the reading was as smooth, elegant and sweet as the beautiful maiden who read could make it. The response by Miss Nannie Walktr, of Durham, was most appropriate and admirably read She is indeed a ' bright jewel. ' Rev. J. A Cunninggim then came forward and made a statement for the Bright Jewel. This, he said, was a short year, the lime of the annual meat ing having been changed from the last of October to the last of June, giving only aliltleover eight inont for this year In this lime tbe Hright Jewels had raised S"-"J 00 for missions as against 31- 00 for the whole of last fear. There are about 'J, W0 children in North t'arolina engaged in this work an 1 they have done the best work of any children of the church in North Carolina for missions. He noticed that Durham was ahead of all others. Twenty-one new bands of Bright Jew els had been formed during the short year. Kev. J. 11. Cordon of Wilson was then introduced, and delivered a fervent, eloquent and logical address from the text, "Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall be do also; and greater works than these shall be do, because I go un to the Father." The speaker in a mas terly manner presented an array of faots and incidents to show that these words were literally true. The world is to be saved by tbe power of the spirit through human instrumentality; man is to be corrected by the light of truth and not by kindling fires under his feet. Tbe work of turning man from the error of his ways by lore and truth and winning him to Christ is a greater work than stilling the tempest or rais ing a Lazarus. Christianity could not restore sight to the blind but it gathers them up and puts them in an asylum where the tip of erery finger becomes an eye-ball by which they read the glorious truths of the Oospel. Tbe speaker elaborated this line of thought to show that no achievement was too great for the saved man, conscious of his faith, to undertake. He impressed his bearers with the fact that the same agencies by which those in error are reached In this land must be used to reach those in foreign lands. Rev. J. A. Cunninggim followed with a short talk to the children. At night a missionary mass m cetiog was held and short talks made by Revs. J. T. Harris, F. D. Swindell, J. H. Cordon and J. A. Cunninggim, at the close a collection was taken for the So ciety. On Monday the Society met at 9 o'clock when the several committees submitted reports. In the afternoon the work was completed and the Society adjourned. We hope to obtain a report of tbe proceedings for the day. Oonuniasionera Proceedings. The board convened at 11 o'clock. Ijttle Ruck, June .'10. Cotton worms have appeared in live counties in the southern part of this State, and it is feared that they will do as much dam age to the crop as in 1!S7, when the crop was a total failure. WHAT AM I TO DO ' The symptoms of biliousness are un happily hut too well known. They dlf fer in different individuals to some ex tent. A bilious man is seldom a break fast eater. Too frequently, alas, he has an excellent appetite for liquids but none for solids of f. morning. Ilia tongue will hardly bear inspection at any time, if it is not white and furred it is rough, at all events. The digestive system m wholly out of order and Disrrhopa or Constipation may be a symptom or the two may al ternate. There are often hemorrhoids or even loss of blood. There may be giddiness and often headache and acid ity or flatulence and tenderness in the pit of the stomach. To correct all this if not effect a cure try Own'. August Flower, it costs but a trirla and thou sands attest its efficacy Fine M iislc. Ecitor Joi RNAL: All who were pres ent at Christ Church on Sunday morn ing enjoyed a rioh musical treat. A solo sung by Miss Marion RadclifT was to my taste as rioh as I ever heard. The music at this churoh is usually very good and when anything attracts un usual attention it must be exceptional ly good. Such was the case in reference to the singing of Miss Radcliff on Sun day morning. Her voice is an accession to the long list of good singers in the city, and she will Uke no rear rank po sition in the line. At least that is the opinion of an admirer, if not a judge of good music S, WONDERFUL Cl'RKSt W. D.
