We believe that Mr. Smith is a native of Vermont; we wish that more of the "Green Mountain Boys" would do like Mr. Smith, come and take a look at us, partake of onr figs, our grapes, our fish and oysters, pick rosee in October and November and bask in our soft winter sunshine. Wilmington Star: Some of our cotton merchants are much concerned about the condition of the cotton now being received here, a Urge part of which is of very inferior quality and known as storm cotton, having been picked from m mature bolla and from the SLround after being blown from the plants by rain storms. It rs thoroughly soaked with water and has been packed in that condition. The bales weigh from 500 to 750 pounds and are liable to be rejected as unmerchantable. Our fnends In the oountry would do well to dry this inferior cotton beforo baling it, as cotton baled in this damp state ia liable to heat and rot.
