If to you will greatly oblige Your sincerely, William I amb Prepare for the Conference. Wf note considerable improvements going on in the oity in the way of repairing and enlarging dwelling. This is right and proper. The M. E. Conference will be hero on the 28 ih of November, a little over two months off, and New Berne most entertain the ministers and delegate ia a becoming manner. There will be about three hundred and fifty of these. There will be at least as many more visitors who will want accommodation. To meet this demand every boarding house should prepare to accommodate as many as possible and in a way to make the most favorable impression. Our city authorities too should be on the alert Lot the streets and sidewalks e pui in order. In this connection m congratulate our Middle street mer- hants upon the improvement they are making. It is to be hoped that tbe con crete walk will be put down the entire distance from Pollock to South Front. It is the principal business street and tbe woertof the property can well afford to have a good sidewalk, in fact tbe city authorities ought to insist on it. Much depends upon the impression New Berne will make upon the mem bers of the Conference ana the visitors here on that occasion. Let u begin in time and be prepared for it. We intend the issue of the Journal during the Conference to be in every respect cred it able to the city, containing a full report of the proceedings each day.
