FOLYGAMY is fast disappearing. The Mormons are becoming satis ft id that further resistance to the oivil law is nseless. The commercial outlook in New York is reassuring. The business season has opened well and an uuusaally large trade is expected. Mr. BLAINE has not made the sensation that his friends predicted, lie was expected to serve as an electric light, but has proven to be a wet blanket. There has been snows in Vir ginia and frosts in many of the States of the Sooth. This justifies the hope that the yellow fever will soon pass away. It is said that ColJ)ockery bas left off the discussion of the tariff anil baa gone to throwing mud. We supposed it would come to this. Men; like, water; usually find their level.' Ths; trouble with 'Mexicans on the Texas r- frontier, that lately existed, has passed away for the present. These annoyances are occurring a little too often, and , may provoke severe measures of re taliatiou at no distant day. UKDXB the idea of making "a clean breast of every thing" it is in 'order for General Harrison to an nounce tbat in tbe event of hiaelec. , tier, Mr. Blaine ia to be his pruner. , Bat there is no seed of it, inasmuch .,aa the contingency U too remote to be seriously considered. r 'Republicans are; saying tbat Tammany has backed down. Not ai all gentleman..? Tammany has - simply declined,- so fat; to place a candidate In'the field against Mayor Hewitt. Tammany always prefers to have a Tammany man In office, V ut never ' fails to work for .the Democracy. The election oi Cleve V tand and ' Bill is paramount, and will be kept- ateadtly in view by , both v Tammany and. .the county Democracy.' ' . 5 . WK commend the communication of Mr. E. E. Dudley, in jester- dajs Daily 3 otjskal to the sober consideration of those to whom it is addressed. Wo commend it not because it is fiom a Democrat, fori be is not a Democrat not; because it is from a white man, for be is not white man. Bat we commend it Mjpanlj &n4 ie. We rejoice in very evidence tbat our colored people are becoming more inde pendent, and more detei mined to labor for the common good of all the people. Those distinctions are essential to social order, and the proper observances are important to the progress and development of both races ; bat it is a blessed thing to see all the people, without any distinction, contributing to the public good, and pressing forward to the highest possible attainment under our glorious, free Constitu tion W K are gratified to learn that the c.iiivjs of Messrs. Nunn and Rusft'll is progressing favorably. The$e gentltiuen are making no great fuss with brass bands, torches and banueis, but tuev are quietly visiting the people and commend ing themselves to all men by their geutlemanly deportment, the sound ness of their views, and their de votion to tbe interests oi Craven county. They have no personal ambition to gratify. Roth of them woLld preler the quiet of borne to tbe honors of officers, but no one can controvert the laet tbat the people of Craven need representa tives in the Legislature who will devote themselves entirely to the interests of Craven, and Messrs. Nunn and Russell have been so lected because of their fitness to aecomplibh the desired end. They are Coalitionists, and in this can vass Coalitiou means devotion to Craven county and the interests of all tbe people In Craven. Vote for them, and you will do a good day's work for all the people. (A)CAL NEWS. Tbe Solvation Army barrack are be' ing painte.l The Cotton Exchange is receiving the cotton reports daily now.
