A good meeting of the Board of Trade was held last night, ror we present meetings will be held every Friday night. Thia appoint meatt constitute a joint agency as Mr. Piadmoat ia already the agent of the Piedmont Air Lino at Goldsboro. f-cloaer relations between tba two roads and consequently a mors equitable traffio arrangement, or whether it is limply one of those strokes for economy whioh characterises the prea ent administration of the road, we are not prepared to say. But one thing do know, much of our early truck oaght to bo and would be consumed in North Carolina towns if the Piedmont Air Line was disposed to encourage shipments. We believe it ia the desire oftha A. ft N. C. R to open as many markets for our truck as postible io order to stimulate the industry, and if tbe numerous towns along the Pied mont Air Line in North Carolina oan be made to look to our section for their early vegetables it will put many an extra dollar into the pockets of our truckers. The fast truck service on the Atlantic road has been much appreci ated by our farmeia, and the opening up of new markets will also be sppre ciate 1. What bas been said in regard t trucking is equally apphoable to our grain and other products. Ii is a burning shame and an outrage upon the people of North Carolina that such a railroad system has benn fastened upon them that the East and West oan have no busiuess relations, no exchange of products, no community of interest Whenever the mind of a true North Carolinian recurs to this fact he can but be aroused with feelings of indig nation. Recently a gentleman living in Hyde county informed us that he in tended to move to Greensboro for the purpose of educating his children, and wanted to have his corn, oats, etc ship ped to him from hit farm. It cost the same to get it to New Berne that it did to Norfolk, but the freight charges from Goldsboro to Greensboro were so enor mous that he could not ship this way. Tbe R. & D. demands that it go by Nor folk. Richmond and Danville. Let ua hope that thia joint agency is the Beginning of better times, not only for truck but for every other product that Eastern Carolina desires to ship to the West.
