Ward and Miss Cora Provow have very nne gardens, but the best garden or farm we have seen is that of Mr. A. J. Hurst on Brown sound. Mr. H. is one of our best and safest farmers he plants corn, cotton, peanuts; rice, sweet and Irish po tatoes, and this year he plants about one acre in aagar cane, and his wife is one of as good gardeners as ue is a farmer. Mr. K. Q. Ward is also another one of our few suc cessful farmers in these hard times. Also we might put in J. W. Free man and J, A. Provow. On the first day of May, 1889, tnere win be, providence permit ting, a grand gala day in Swans boro. The programme is elaborate. At a o'clock a. m. the Sunday school will turn out ia full dress, march the' streets with music, vocal uu lDBbrumeuuu, assemoie at (as church where all the pleasing cere monies of crowning the queen of May will take place. After tbis, all will march to the wharf and board the steamer and boats for the banks, returning Id the evening under tne sound of delightful music by a good string band.
