Wallace, Miss Laura Davis, Miss Lotta Wallace. Carteret : J. R. Bell, O. S. Bell. On motion of W. S. Rone, the five front seats were set apart for the conference bar. After a few remarks by the President, W. W. Rose addressed the meeting on "The Object of Sunday School Work." The pre scntation of this subject was earn est, clear and practical. In the first place Sunday schools must have some object in view, that object the same as the church has the salvation of souls. Not especially to make Methodists of them in the way of Christ. Their in strnctors should be Ghristians, those who nave been converted and given themselves np to God, and the best time to give this instruc tion was in their youth. 1 Rev.L. W. Crawford next spoke, giving a careful and closelytudied review of the "Condition of the S. S. Work in this Disttict.'. He commenced by saying that the subject was seemingly an easy one. out that ne ; had lound it to be quite difficult to be accurate in getting reliable information, owing to the magnitude of the district. In it there were ; seventy-three organized churches with a member ship of six thousand eonls and five hundred teachers. Particular stress was laid upon the importance of the selection of teachers for these schools and having them open all the year round, also . to the great indifference; 'on the part of parents as totheir children attending Sunday scbooL ? Having good 1 and live superintendents was another matter of Tqo little Importance. vThrongbont the district every town . and Til lage had its Sunday Schools, but, he regretted to , say,'t there was : BOt that advancement he would like to see; in fact, a compari son wim ine statistics a year or two ago was somewhat unfavorable.. To conduct Sundav . schools nronerlv there should be sufficient funds to aerray necessary expenses and to run them successfully,: without dt was a false idea. Places of worship should be " made comfortable and attractive both winter and summer. There Bhould be ' maps, charts, blackboards &c ' ; v '.t-Dv : It was a eplefidid address and given, the best of attention. On motion convention adjourned till three o'clock ftr the afternoon. 1 JastaTit. ' If a bov sees a ftoat that fif. liim. he sometimes puts it on before he knows it ; cr we may say the bame thini? in other words. "A cniltv conscience needs no accuser." 1 TWO school bovs had anarrelled and finally .had eneraared in a real Stand-no fieht. The teacher, eat wind of the affair and called the combatants before him. "He Btruck me . said one of f.lie boys. "He said I stole his knife." said the other. "I said' 8omebodv stole it." said the first boy. "Well. vou meant mo." replied the other. "Why, Charlie,' said the teach er- "if Willie had told me that somebody had stolen his knife, it wouia not nave made me angry. I should not have thought that he meant me." , "Well, but you don't steal," was the ready answer. Kind Words. TBI INVALIDS HOPS. B for catarrh, whioh he thought incurable, as it bad resisted all treat ment. It delighted him, and continu ing its use he was cured sound and well." R. M. Lawson, East Point, Ga., vrites: "My wife had scrofula 15 years. She kept growing worse. She lost her hair and her skin broke out fearfully. Debility, emaciation and no appetite followed. After physiojans and numer ous advertised medioin'es failed, I tried B. B.
