The steamer is of about six hundred tons burthen and oarried a full carjro of ceneral freieht. She had on board I about $10,000 worth of goods for Wil mington merchants, besides other freight. Some of the freight was in sured and some was not. A gentleman, of this city, who was at Ocracoke during the storm witnessed the wrecking of the steamer. It was a grand , terrible scene. The terrific force of the wind, the thunder of the huge billows as they dashed wildly, seething and foaming, high upon the shore, the sea that seemed to be one whirling, dashing mass of foam and spray , thrilled the spectators with awe. The ship is buifetted and driven here and there at the mercy of the wind and waves.until with one driving blov she is sent high upon the shoals. She lingers here a while, and then with a tudden crashing .-. mL , I was completely wrecked and her cargo scattered to the waves. No lives were lost. There were four passengers, who came to the city with the crew. There are eighteen of the ctew. The captain and first mate were w in !. . , . . . Ber nard, of Greenville, N. C-, whose loss is $5,000, no insurance. Bright 's loss ia 81,200, insurance $800. Buskin's loss is $i00, insurance 600. Spencer Bros-' loss is $1,600, insuranoe $800. Morton's loss is $8,000, no insurance. The total loss is about $12,000, with a total insu ranee of about $2,000.
