The subject of other eltiea and towns have given meir the discourse was "Ths Poetrv of the Associations. This is not written in a Rlhla eomnarad with TJninsDired Building aad Loan AssoeiaUon. Editor Joubjjal:-! desire to call the attention of our people to the workings oi mo new Berne Building and Loan Association which has been in success ful operation for the past 83 months, and is now established upon a solid bacis beyond all doubt. Up to the present time no soeoial effort has been made to inorease its stockholders and yet tney nave over doubled since its organi sation. The pioflt aocount is rapidly increasing as the following statement will ahow: At the end of the first year the stuck was worth only 17 cents above what had been paid in. At the end of the second year it was worth $1 26, and by actual calculation it will be worth at the end of the third year $1.00 above what haa been paid. I have made a oareful oaloulation and I find that the first series of stock will mature in 61 years from its date, being one-eighth per cent, interest on money invested Iter paying taxes and other expenses. All loans made by the directors have been upon the best real estate securities and to prompt and reliable parties. As an evidence of this no borrower has failed to pay his interest and assessment promptly. The Association ' has been able thus far to euppjy the demands of its members. It has been the aim of its members to so keep all money invosted as to lose no time and thereby insuring the greatest return to the stockholdeis. The first of last November the second series of stock was opened and it is hoped by the members that our people will at once avail themselves of this opportunity of becoming stockholders. Uur Association recommends itself to those who wish a perfectly safe invest mtnt paying over eight per cent, interest per annum on all money invested net to the member, or to those who wish by monthly savibgs to accumulate a fund to be witnorawn arter one or more years, or to those who wish to secure a home at but a little more per month than rent would cost. To our young men I would especially urge the benefits to be derived by them from this investment. If you only put aside each day ten cents and invest this In three shares of stock at the end of each month you will have in 6 J years $300. Our Association is based upon eight per cent, interest to borrower and no extras. We promise no more than we can do aad we oonndentiy believe that upon investigation it will be found that our Association oilers just as great ad van tagea as any other Association in our State, and ours is a home organization composed of home people and takes hone securities and works for the bene fit of home. l would be glad to furnish any in formation to parties wishing a safe ia vestment.
