Ward politics, the leanest of all politics, is warming up. We hear of some criticism nbout ohanging the name of Neuse street to New. It eeems to us that tinea the former name has become so generally known, and that it Is in honor of that beautiful stream on the banks of whioh our city reposes, the change is unjusti fiable. The Rileigh News and Observer of yesterday says: "Dr. G. W. Blacknall left yesterday afternoon for Morehead City taking with him a force of work men who will begin extensive repairs at the Atlantic Hotel preparatory to the approaching season. The hotel will this year be under the management of Foster Bros., and lis learned from a reliable source that it will be conducted on a scale which his never been sua patsed." In Mayor Williams's report published a few days ago the use of shell rock was reoommended for the streets. This suggestion is a good one, and by all means should be carried into tffeel, not only for the streets, but the side walks also. It has been tried in a few places and found to be superior to oyster shells or anything else that has been triad. It makes an even solid walk and does not cut np after rains, nor does dust arise from it in dry and wfndy weather, Election of Christ Church Vestrymen, At an- election of Christ Churoh Vestry, held April 7th, 1890, the fol lowing gentlemen were eleoted : Q. A , held at their rooms on Tuesday night, the following reports for the month of March were made: EXECUTIVE committee. To the Officers and Members of the Young izen's Christian Association: Gentlemen We, the executive com mittee, beg to offer the following report: It is with pleasure that we are ena bled to state that the work of the Asso ciation is still progressing, out, without any spirit of grumbling, we feel it our duty in saying that all is not being done that should be and can be done, if only the proper interest was manifested by each individual member.
