Green have purchased the gymnasium buildinK of the Young Men's Christian Association for the purpose of estab lishing therein a sfeam laundry, and later on a knitting mill. We are glad to see this. We have urged so long and so often the inauguration of suoh enterprises that when any move is made in that direotion we feel en- oouragod. He brought it to town to Mr. C. E. Harden, a jeweler nd silver smith, who, after thorough examina tion, pronounced it to be gold. Mr. Philps then went back to his home, and commenced to dig into the hilU along the branch, and found a large quantity of the same kind of gold-bearing rock which he has shipped to gome dealers in gold in Philadelphia. His two little granddauKbtetH, who live with him, while wading in the run of the branch and picking up rubbles t play wtth, found several umall sized nuggets of virgin gold.
