The Seventh annual exposition of tho Eastern Carolina Fair and Stock Association, at Ooldsboro, N. C will open Oct. 21, 1890, and continue for three days. The Marshals' Ball will come off Thurs day night of the F'air in Armory Hall of the Goldsboro Rifles. AN election was held In Georgia on the first of Oct., for Governor, State House officers, members of ; the General Assembly, and two amendments to tho State constitu tion. Simmons and L. J. Moore, and other distinguished speak ers, will address the people of Craven oounty at the court house next Wed nesday night. This is the opening gun of the Craven county campaign. Wako up, Demo crats, sail in for victory, and make things lively. The Republicans have been skirmiuh- ing for some time, but from what we can learn they can get np very little enthusiasm. There are signs of dierut isfaction and weakness. Their own actions in this oounty have been of such a nature as to cause divisions in thoir ranks. S. Bryan has returned to his home in New York. Miss Maud Saunders, who for the past year and a half has been an opera tor in the telegraph offioe at New Berne, left yesterday morning. She will first make a short visit to her home in Nor folk and then go to Anderson, S. O., to take charge of a telegraph offioe there, Miss Maud is a very amiable young lady, nnd by bor agreeable, obliging disposition and careful attention to the affaire cf tho office has made a large circle of friends in New Berne, consist ing not only of those who had the ploaaure of being counted among her acquaintances but also of those who simply curao in contact with her in business relations, and they much re- grot her departure. A duel was fought at Aehford. Floury county. yssterday, between J. V, Thompson and W. M. Rlgell. Thompson opened fire on Rigell who responded, and eight or ten shots were fired. Thompson was killed. Rigell surrendered to the Sheriff. The cause of the duel was a piece of land whioh both men claimed. $10,000 For Alienating a Wife's A flections. Baltimore, Oct. 2. The jury in the case uf John Siebrecht against Wm. H. Lvans for $75,000 damages for tho alleged alienation of the affections of Mrs. Wilhelma C.
