Oliver, one of our most energetic citizens, is making arrange ments to get up en exhibit of cotton and woolen goods manufactured throughout the entire South for our Winter Fair. Of course many of these manufactured articles will be from a distance, but New Berne is not too selfish to show the progress and ad' vantages of our Southland, and then the Now Berne Fair has grown to be raoro than of local interest. This will be the fourth year of its existence and each timo has brought increased throngs of people and from a greater distance and wider section of country, One of the principle efforts of the Exhibition has been to induoe North erners to visit it whereby our advant ages and undeveloped resources may be learned of, therefore it is to the in terest of our manufacturers to plaoe their goods where they may be more generally known and the demand in creased. Would that we bad more men of Mr, Oliver's energy. Personal Mr. E. W. Dickinson and family, who have been visiting relatives at Beaufort, returned home yesterday. Oliver, of New Berne. He has been a thorough student of our financial system, and more than five years ago wrote valuable essays show ing that the great need of the people was to secure the free coinage of silver. He rejoioes now to see that all the people of the State are earnestly seek ing to secure free coinage. He was a pioneer m this reform in North Caro Una."
