Eemember that a scratch on a Democratic ticket is like a blot on ; a gooaman-B name. JAMES M- MEWBORNE. Tuesday the Journal said, " We admit that the chances are now in favor of Cheatham, but if Mewborne has one chance in a thousand it should not be thrown away." Since the above was written we have received information of the nomination of Mr. Mewborne by the Farmers' Alliance and by the Democratic Executive Committee of the second congressional district. Thin chances the situation. Hope has been changed into assurance. r The possible has become probable, and every hoar brightens the pros pect of Democratic victory. -. Men and brethren, rally ! Ia his canvass is beautifully illustrated the freedom of the citizen and the' integrity of tha government joined in a holy and indissoluble alliance. Only a few more days. Time enough, bat none to spare. Time enough to save the district, and give to the American Congress a North Carolina gentleman, and to the people a representative in sympathy with their interests and faithfal to their cause. Men oi the (second district, to your posts, and w j Y. M. C. A. Work In Reidsville. During the session of the Y. M. C. A. District Convention in Keids- ville, Mr. L. A. Coulter, the State secretary, made a powerful and earnest speech on the need for Young Men's Christian Associa tion work in this country, whereof 12 million young men only one million belong to any church and 7 millions never darken a church door, while the temptations to evil are multiplying on every hand. He showed that it would pay the buai ness men of Beidsville to invest in the improvement of the character of her young men. Mr. White, of Danville, then made a most prao tical talk on the work of a general secretary, his relation to the work and the importancefof Beidsville securing such an officer. Mr. Al len, oi Greensboro, and Mr. M. D. Stockton, of Winston. Salem, of fered some strong reasons, from a business man's view, why an As sociation should employ au ex perienoed secretary. Mr. Coulter, after earnest prayer, by seueral delegates, called on the business men to raise 11,050 for the local work for 12 mouths. In 15 or 20 minutes S15 were readily subscribed. The remainder is being solicited today privately, and this means the life and growth of a vigorous work for young men in lieidsville. Twin City Daily. A PUKSBYTER1AR IJMIVEIUITY. TUB WAY MADE CLEAH. 1 0ne of the most serious obstacles to success in the way of man is planted right in the middle of the road to health. How to restore and to maintain a regular habit of body and digestion is too often a source of needless end, un happily, of vain inquiry. It is not necessary to inveigh against drastic purgatives. They who have used them continuously know the consequences. A remedy which unites the action of a regulating medicine for the bowels with that of a tonio both for those or gans, the liver and the stomaoh, is Bos tetter's Stomach Bitters, sanctioned by the best medical authority, and reoeiv ng daily the indorsement of our fellow countrymen. With this effectual, though gentle, laxative at hand, it it possible to defy those changes of tem perature productive of constipation, as well as constitutional attacks of bilious nets, which beset even people naturally healthy. Malaria, dyspepsia, rheuma tism and kidney troubles are remedied and prevented by the Bitters, A more glorious - victory cannot be gained over another man than this, that when the injury began On his part the -kindness should begin on ours. . ; The proprietors of Ely's Cream Balm do not claim it to be a cure-all, but a sure remedy for catarrh, colds in the bead and linv fever.
