I spent i very pleasant night with the family of VV. lioagea, who is one of Baaufort county 'a beet farmers, and is a strong Alliunca man. Every one tells tho good news of a plentiful crop. Men who for years have not been able to pay their debts, havo in consequence of ihe good crop Ihis year paid this year's debts and some on back debts, an example worthy ( emulation. Mow many hearts would be ina:1o happy, how many families would bo put in comparatively eaHy circumstances if many who have been iliu reeipihiits of a bountiful crop would just pay what they could on back debts A debt never, morally, goes out of date. buurday morning I started for Wil- liaiubtuii. reaching thero a few minutes before 11 am., jubt in time to hoar quito an interesting sermon from lieudertion ot Beaufort county. Aftur tho sermon, a bountiful dinner was spread near the church, and, judg ing from actions all enjoyed very much the rich viands so well and tastily pre pared by the ladies of uliamston and vicinity. After dinner a business ses sion was held, lasting the greater part of the afternoon. Saturday night the writer preached to a crowded house. Sunday morning a Sunday-school conference was held, in which several made short talks en Sunday -Bchool work. It was an old- time expenenoe meeting, and we think good will be the result. There being so large a crowd it was decided to have preaohing in two churches, so the M E. Church, which had boon kindly of fered, was accepted and the writer preached in it to a largo and attentive audience., while D. W. Davis preached in the Di.Mciples house of worship to as many as could get in tho house and stand around the windows. At 12 m. the church was dedioated, a debt of $376 having been lifted from the build ing during the session of the Union meeting. Sunday night wo returned to Wash ington and spent tho night, Monday and Monday night at Sheriff liodgca, than whoso a more hospitable family you will scarcely iind in Beaufort county . a county uoti-d for its hospitality. Tuesday about 6:45 am. we left Washington for New Berne, reaching here just before 6 p.m. Soon after 8 o'clock my attention was arreBtrd by Diauy voices and sound of many feet in my piiizzi, and very soon the house was full of ladies and gentlemen who had brought baskets and sacks filled with good things things that help out the larder wonderfully. Such a reoeption by the brethren and sisters is indeed pleasant and encouraging, and we offer our grateful thanks for tho splendid and bountiful p. unding of Tuesday night. Wo also offer our thanks to the nood brother for the nice Thanksgiving turkey. I. L. U.
