It is best to exercise caution about letting children have fire in any shape as a play thing. But for timely assistance this might have proved a serious accident. Personal. Mr. T A. Green went up to Raleigh yesterday morning to attend a meeting of the Directors of the Oxford Orphan Asylum. Rev. N, M. Jurney and family passed through, moving from Beaufort to Robeson circuit, near Wilmington. Capt. Geo. W. Wallace, of the steam er Vesper, which now plies between Washington and Elizabeth City, is in the city for a week's visit to his family. Rev. C. W. Robinson, who has been visiting Prof. Adams, returned to his home in Plymouth yesterday. Rev. C. G. Verdell, of South Carolina, arrived last night and is the guest of Mr. C. E. Slover. He will conduct the services at the Presbyterian church tonight. Mrs. N. M. Gaskill left for a visit to her mother, Mrs. E. W. Hunt, of Bsau fort. Small-Pox at Savannah, Ga, The Sanitary Board of Savannah, Ga., published a oard, yesterday, aonounc ing that there are three oases of small pox in that city. Primrose tendered his bond is Coroner of Craven county, which after full and careful examination was ac cepted, commissioners Bryan, Cleve, Line and Meadows voting in the af firmative; and the said Primrose quali fied by taking and subscribing to the oath of effice. Ordered that John Shepard be re leased from paying poll tax for 1890, he being over 50 years of age. Wm. B. Lane having tendered his bond as 8heriff of Craven county, af tor full and careful examination the said bond was acoepted, commissioners Bryan, Cleve, Lane, Meadows and Smallwood voting to accept his process bond of $3,uuu and his school bond of $14,000, and commissioners Bryan. Cleve, Lane and Meadows voting to accept his bond for $50 000, and the said Lane qualified by taking and sub- scibine to the oath of office. Ordered that the jury be drawn for February term. 1891.
