The Wilmington Star sav6: It is
said that some of tbe Alliance men
elected to the Legislature in Kan
sas have resigned, alleging as a
reason that they resent the system
of espionage which has been es
tablished by the Alliance to see
how they vote on the Senatorial
question. Perhaps these are some
of the fellows who want to vote for
IngalU, and don't like to be
watched.
The Raleigh Correspondent of
the Messenger sayf : Your corres
pondent carefully scrutinized the
faces of the members ot the Legis
lature last night and today. It is
a good body, of earnest, settled
men. Nearly every one is of mid
die age. There aro remarkably
few old men or young ones. They
are uearly all country men and are
well, though plainly, dressed. There
are only three colored men in the
House and one in the Senate.
Senator Ingalls,

w as recalled, by order of Senator
Hoar, from bis canvass for re elec
tion for no good whatever. As a
natural consequence he is in no
good humor either towards Hoar
or the otner advocates of the Force
bill. Ingalls intends to return
immediately to Kansas to look
after his "fences" and it is quite
safe to predict that even should
another attempt be made to revive
the Force bill he will not, at least
until after the Kansas Senatorial

My mother. I am paf! up hero
In Jesue loving breafet,
And tho' you loved no very much,
He knows it is tho beet
'or you, for me, for all, that I
Should leave the cosy near,
You made for inn at our h"arth tor.e
Ui?on thy faithful breast.
Mother, do not regiet thy chiid
Should join the auel band
Before you; and the other hearts
That love me understand
Why Boged death ehouU come eo aeon,
Aod lake me from thy nrim.
While you were hapny with tby babe
In all her infant charms.
I have a mission, mother dear
Tby baby, Sallie Doo,
An angel tho' she be in heaven,
Will visit thee below;
I'll meet thee at tbe twilight Lcur
In humble, holy prayer
For grace to heal thy wounded heart.
Yes, mother, I'll be there;
And should you hear a heavenly voice,
'Tie Sally Doo that Kings,
And calls thee to a higher life
By touch ot angel wings.
Tell father brother, sisters too,
To live pure, useful lives,
And I will come for them when death
Shall oall them to the skies.
You must not grieve that I am gone,
Your little one is blessed
In having missed the ills of earth,
And gained the heavenly rest.
0 oould you view the wonders here,
Wrought by redeeming graoe.
Tby soul would burst her earthly bands
To reach tbii glorious place.
And now, sweet mother, let thy faith
Rest in the Holy Word,
