The oontraot for the construction and operation of an elcotrio street railway in the city of New Berne, the franohise for which was granted last November to Wm. C Clarke, of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and his associates and assigns has been perfected by the ac ceptance of the bond of the company under date of December 7th. Giving stability to the agreement and reason able certainty of the early oonstruotion and operation of tbe road. The work ia to be oommenoed within 6 months from Dao. 7ih, and the cars are to be runninK within 12 months of the same date. The following is the agreement entered into between the Electric Railway company and the city: Be it ordained by the Mayor and Beard of City Councilmen of the City of New Berne First: That in consideration of the oovenants, and agreements hereinafter made by Wm. O. Clarke of Wakefield, Rhode Island, the City of New Berne hereby grants to the said Wm. C. Clarke his associates and assigns the exclusive right to use the streets of the said otty for the period of Thirty Years from tbe date of the adoption of this ordinance, for tbe purpose of oonstruct ing and operating within tbe said City an Electrio Street Railway Seoond: The said Wm. O.Clarke, his aaeooiates and assigns shall within six months from date of the adoption here of oommenoe to construct the said Street Railway, and shall have the same running and operating from South Front Street to the Fair Grounds within six months thereafter. Third: That the streets upon which the said railway is to be constructed shall be agreed upon by the Board of Counoilmen of the said city or a com mittee appointed thereby, and tbe aaid Wm. (J.
