The display of art work from tbia- sohool at the New Berne Fair never fails to attraot attention and elicit admira tion from the thousands of visitors who view it. We are looking for a splendid exhibit from the Seminary again this year, and we hope not alone for the ex hibit but that the entire school stu dents and teachers will favor as with at least one day in a body as they attended the Inter-Sinus Exposition on the 12th, of November. Full lines of certain exhibits are made at this Fair which there U scarce ly an attempt to show at other similar exhibitions. A good view of tho many rare curious ornamental and useful ex hibits embracing well the handiwork of man and the products of nature that will be shown will afford delight and instruction to every one. Such exhibi tions broaden the mind and in no other wav can as through an cbuot laaeon be given so easily and quickly. Kineey Seminary has previously graced the Fair with its presence and James Improved High school. Cupt C. H. James, Principal visited the Fair last Year with his school in a body and the students presented a line appear ance attired in their handeome uni forms, and Capt. John Ducked, Principal of the Greenvillo Female Institute also attended last year with scholara from his school. It would be a nice arrangment if some understand ing oould be arrived at by which some day of the Fsir week oould be telecie.i as "School Day" and the visiting schools, the New Berne Collegiate insti tute, the Graded school and other local schools all attend on that day. The pleasure of meeting with each other thus would heighten the enjoyment of the occasion. Urand Lodge A. F. & A. M. The Grand Lodge of Masons, which convened in Raleigh Wednesday night, had a harmonious and short session, accomplishing a good deal of work in a brief time. Regularly the Grand Lodge meets annually in Raleigh, but as the centennial anniversary of St. John's Lodge, No. 1, Wilmington, occurs two years from now, it was decided to hold the session of 1891 in that city instead, in honor of the event. The same offi cers were re-elected for the coming year, and Mr. J. S. Carr, whoso term as one of the directors of the Oxford Orphan Asylum had expired, was re elected for Ave years. The report of the Superirtendent ot tho Asylum showed that it is in a good condition and that it is supporting and schooling over two hundred needy orphans. POWDER Absolutely Pure.
