THE REYIYAL.
Fine Sermons Sunday Continued Great
Interest and Conversions.
Evangelist Lee's sermon delivered ia
Centenary Church Sunday morning,
"Pitching Towards Sodom," was one
of tbe finest and most practical ever
heard in the olty. Mr. Leo traoed Lot's
movements as he lett his Unole Abra
ham and for said pitched towards a

pi,09 of wi0kednee, and floairy entered
into it and beoame almost sa one or its
inhabitants, marrying into their fami

under the influ
ence of their evil doings, losing his pos
sessions and almost losing his soul.
Mr. Lee prooeeded to traoe the anal
ogy between Lot and that of the Church
or Christian of today who is tempted to
enter nearer to the world in pursuit of
its honors, pleasures or wealth, and to
grasp after tbee things at all hazards.
It was a magnificent sermon, hard to
exoel in its stiong, praotioal teaching.
Sunday night the large ohuroh was
again paoked, and Mr. Lee preaohed a
sermon on "The Death and Funeral of
a Lost Soul," from the text, "Why Will
Ye Die." It was solemn, sad, thought
ful and Impressive, oaloulated to make

DR. HALL'S LECTURE.
Heavy Blows Against Infidelity
Strong Points Hade for Chris
' tianity.
Tne Y. M. O. A. hall was orowded
Sunday afternoon lower floor and both
galleries by gentlemen and ladies,
young and old, of every denomination,
to hear tbe Ieoture of Dr. Wm. E. Hall,
of New York, on "The Ididtakes of In
gersoll." It was the largest andienoe
that has ever assembled in the hall
since it came into possession of the as
sociation. Dr. Hall showed infidelity as simply
a destroyer, not an npbuilder, taking
away hopes and substituting nothing
therefor, and showed the temporal re
sults it leads to wherever it hae ever
obtained sway, as evidenoed by the
fearful deeds of yiolenoe that deluged
lovely Franoe with blood during the
awful Reign of Terror when religion
was oast aside and reason enthroned in
lieu thereof. He showed the destruct
ive ouicroppings of the same teachings
in this country, as exhibited by anar-
ohist riots and mnrders in Ohioago.
He showed that infidelity did nothing
for the amelioration of mankind or the
improvement of their condition, while
Christianity was constantly working in
both directions.
He showed likewise the absurdities
of unbelief as contrasted with the
sound and enduring truths of Chris
tianity, the peril of the unbeliever as
contrasted with the safety of the Chris
tian, and the generally worthless and
vile character of those who patronize
infidelity as contrasted with the known
excellence and solid worth of oharaoter
of foremost Christians.
It was an eloquent lecture, nearly
two hours in length, closely listened
to by the audienoe and favorably re
ceived by all.
New Mail Service Secured.
We are glad to announce that the
mail service pititioned for between
New Borne and Elizabeth City has been
ordered by the Postmaster General to

Our greatest hopes in this direction
are, that tho establishment of this line
would be a etarter for further and more
important communication for New

progressive sister city is very much ap
preciated, but we oacnot ba satisfied
until better access is ottained with the
rich and fertile county of Hyde which
practically isolated from the out
side world. Let our citizens make an
other effort and see if some arrange

the new servioe to touch at ome point
in the county. In addition to the mails
