A large delegation was present, and all business was transaoted harmoniously. Meeting called to order by M. Manly, and G. L. Hardison was elected tem porary secretary. Committee on credentials appointed by the ohair as follows: E. Whitford, Wallace Whitehurat, W, D. Lane, J. W. Conner, J. H. Hunter, H. H. Perry, O. H. Guion, A. Wadsworth. Committee reported every township represented. After some discussion of a contest in tie sixih township the r-port was adopted as submitted. Messrs. E. H. Meadows, Josiah Tingle and W. W. Clark were nominated for permanent ohairman. Mr. Meadows reoeiving the highest vote was declared elected. G. L. Harducn was elected perma nent seoretiry. The election of county effioua was next taken up: For the House, Messrs.! W Carman, J A Jackjon, E W Wadsworth, Stephen Bragaw, J W Lane, R W Smith and Chas Reizsnstein were nominated. Mr. Relzanstein having received the largest vote was declared eleoted. After ex tending thanks for the honor Mr. Reiz enstein asked to be exoused and Mr E W Wadsworth was eleoted in hid stead. Made unanimous. For Sheriff, the present incumbent, W B Lane, was renominated. Register of Deeds, J W Biddle. For Treasurer, Tbos Daniels and T A Green were put in nomination. Mr Daniels receiving the majority of rotes was declared eleoted. Made unanimous. For Coroner, Dr R S Primrose. City Conncll Proceedings. May 6th, 1892. Board convened after reoess this 3 p. m.. Mayor Manly in the chair. Pres ent, Councilmen Ellis, Manly, Lo-ick, Crawford, Richardson, Miller and Boll. The Board prooeeded to canyaes the returns cf the election held May 2, which resulted as follows: Second ward, Buil Manly received 75 votes. Third ward, A. T. Kennedy received one vote, S. It. Street received 93 votos. Fourth ward, V. A. Crawford re ceived 105 votes. Fifth ward, I. Wayno Eubank re ceived 211 votes, J. L. Khem received 147 votes, Fred Djutdess recoived GO votes. Basil Manly, S. R. Street, V. A. Crawford and I. Wayne Eubank were duly declared elected from their re spective wards. The firBt ward was now taken up, and as the returns were protested by one of the judges of election, on ac count ot 12 illegal ballots with device thereon, the citr attorney was called upon for his legal advice, under which advice, and the statement of Mr. C. S. Bell, one of the judges of the first ward. that he eigned the returns believing and thinking the rejected ballots were legal, it was moved by Counoilman Lovick that Mr. William Ellis, having received 74 votes, Mr. J. J. Baxter re ceiving 69 votes, that being a majority of the legal ballots, be declared elected which motion was adopted, and the Mayor declared Mr. William Ellis eleoted counoilman from the first ward.
